Explorations in upcycled design and art
Shohini Gupta’s work is like a patchwork quilt, created with little pieces of mismatched fabric. Her explorations in various upcycled mediums and techniques over the years resulted in a body of work in myriad styles and forms. Shohini does not believe in a singular signature style as she feels it’s too limiting. Rather, she celebrates the diversity of mediums, techniques and styles in her works. In this exhibition, Shohini takes you through her journey as an upcycler, artist and storyteller.
This exhibition includes: KANTHA, TAPESTRY, HOME ACCENTS, JEWELLERY & DRAWINGS

Mela by Shohini
For the last decade or so I have been creating upcycled handmade products and I have thoroughly enjoyed it! But time has come to evolve. Like a river forking into two tributaries, my artistic pursuit also goes in two separate directions from here.
My personal aesthetics has increasingly veered towards minimalism while my handmade products have explored the vibrant colours and textures of our rich cultural tapestry. The kind you see at a Mela.
From now on, all my handmade products will be sold under my brand new label: Mela by Shohini
This line will showcase all things handmade, designed/curated/found by me.

TESTIMONIALS
Shohini’s artwork transcends the mundane while she upcycles everyday items and transforms them into pieces of practiced minimalist beauty. She has been an inspiration.
I love Shohini’s practice and its inherent value of recycling, sustainability and crafting to make objects that are sensitive and beautiful. We need to become a nation of makers again and the best way is to make something with our own hands because when you do, something magical happens.
I love fabric jewellery and I really enjoy wearing Shohini’s creations the most! I wear her handmade fabric jewellery everywhere, be it the office or a wedding. If you are one of those people who appreciate craftsmanship and sustainability, you’ll definitely love Shohini’s work.
I enjoy the quirk and sincerity of Shohini’s work very much. I wish her new dimensions and success!
Shohini’s work is innovative and refreshing. She draws elegance out of the mundane to create finely finished and unique pieces that enable enjoyable conversation.
